Aisialdia — concerts, museums and the weekend plan

End of the unit: urban leisure — concerts, theater, museums and fairs. Everything comes together here: making plans (unit 06), meeting up (unit 06), likes and dislikes (previous lesson) and the money for tickets (A1). A2 is starting to sound like real life.

Kontzerturako sarrerak erosi ditut — azkenak! Ia agortuta zeuden. — I’ve bought the tickets for the concert — the last ones! They were almost sold out.

Museoa doan da asteazken arratsaldetan. — The museum is free on Wednesday afternoons.

Proposing the plan (all together)

— Aizu, zer egingo dugu larunbatean?

— Bi plan ditut: goizean azokara joan — bertako gazta erosi nahi dut — eta arratsaldean erakusketa berria ikusi Artiumen.

— Ondo iruditzen zait goizekoa… baina arratsalderako beste ideia bat: kontzertua dago gaztetxean, doan!

— Doan? Ba erakusketa datorren astean ikusiko dugu. 😄 Zer ordutan hasten da?

— Zortzietan. Zazpietan geratuko gara, zerbait afaltzeko.

Saying how it went (past + opinion)

Kontzertua izugarria izan zen: bi ordu eta erdi, jendea dantzan hasieratik. Giro ederra. — The concert was amazing: two and a half hours, people dancing from the start. A lovely atmosphere.

Antzezlana polita zen, baina luzeegia — hiru ordu! — The play was nice, but too long: three hours! (The -egi suffix, always reliable.)

Azokan gazta, ogia eta sagardoa erosi genituen. Merezi izan zuen. — At the fair we bought cheese, bread and cider. It was worth it.

Note: the Basque cultural scene has its own words: gaztetxea (the self-managed “social club” for cheap concerts), bertso-saioa (a session of bertsolaris), herriko jaiak… And the biggest Azoka of all: Durangoko Azoka, the Basque book and record fair in December — an annual pilgrimage for the Basque-speaking reader.
