You already know how to get there; now it’s time to sleep. From the hotel to the rural house (landetxea — very typical in the Basque Country), this lesson covers booking, check-in, and questions during your stay.

The reservation

Kaixo, erreserba bat egin nahi nuke datorren astebururako. — Hello, I’d like to make a reservation for next weekend.

Gela bikoitz bat, bi gauetarako, mesedez. — A double room, for two nights, please.

Gosaria barne dago? — Is breakfast included?

Zenbat da gaua? — How much is it per night?

The grammar point of this lesson is the destinative case -rako / -etarako (for): gau baterako (for one night), astebururako* (for the weekend). You saw it in A1 with norentzat (for whom); this is its cousin for time and things.

At the reception

— Arratsalde on! Erreserba bat daukat, Etxeberria izenean.

— Bai, hemen dago: gela bikoitza, hiru gau. Pasaportea edo NANa, mesedez.

— Hemen duzu. Zer ordutan da gosaria?

— Zortzietatik hamarretara. Hemen duzu giltza: 214. gela, bigarren solairuan. Igogailua eskuinean dago.

— Eskerrik asko! A, eta… wifia badago?

— Bai, doan. Pasahitza giltzarekin batera daukazu.

Note: the landetxeak (rural guesthouses) are the jewel of Basque tourism: a farmhouse, a village breakfast, and silence. If you book one, you’ll arrive saying gela bikoitz bat nahi nuke and leave saying datorren urtean itzuliko gara. 😄
